Because of the issues I have been posting about in regards to Chia Networks, it seems I have been placed firmly into an “anti Chia” or “anti Crypto” category. I want to address that, because I don’t think that’s accurate.
I am a big fan of the technology behind Chia. I am quite a big fan of BitTorrent as an idea (although in practice right now it leaves some to be desired) and so far I have agreed with almost all the technical decisions that the Chia Networks team has made, and been very transparent about. Other than the trademark spat, which I hope is resolved soon, I am a big fan of this. The Chia Plot is a fan site. I would truly like to return the focus of the site to helping with technical questions and earnest discussion on the future of the coin.
I think that if cryptocurrencies do take off, they will look a more like Chia than like BitCoin or Ethereum. I don’t know if Chia is it, but I do have faith that it will be a useful platform without costing the energy equivalent of a super villain weapon. So because of that, I am going to continue writing about Chia, the coin, and not Chia Networks, the company, except as it is relevant.
I am not going to focus on the dispute with Chia Networks here if it goes further. I will post some major updates, but I would like to bring the focus back to my original vision. I will absolutely continue to cover their bad behavior, as that is intrinsically linked with the future of the coin.
I am working with a website developer on a revamped layout that will be better than something I threw together in 20 minutes. The forum will launch. There will be a reasonable submission system for help articles. There are many other improvements planned, but as this is not a full time endeavor for me I do not have firm plans or an ETA. I should work on that.
The site was meant to be a positive place to break the FUD that is rampant on reddit and twitter. Not about the pricing, and the market strategy or the company behind the coin; those are not my specializations. But about the technical details that I am qualified to speak on. I wanted to make sure that people understood what they are doing. How important cooling is to the lifespan of hard drives, and other pieces of knowledge like that.
I expected to have more time before anybody was reading this, and I did not expect or want any sort of drama at the beginning of this crusade. I will not be posting any more articles to the r/chia subreddit as the regular patrons and / or moderators seem deeply invested in Chia Networks Inc as a company and I am not interested in constant arguments simply to set the record straight on a reddit post.
So in the future, I will be posting to the @thechiaplot Twitter handle and to the r/thechiaplot subreddit. If you want to find discussion on our posts off the site, that will be the best place. Thank you for your support to this point, and I hope the original vision of the site is as useful as I hope.
Thank you for your article! For example, I am most angry that everyone calls chia coin a green coin, although this is far from the case and there are more eco-friendly altenratives. For example, crypton https://utopia-ecosystem.org/. For its mining, only the Internet and a PC are needed, and the energy consumption is minimal.
