Today I am launching version 2.0 of The Chia Plot, with an updated theme and a lot of things working that were broken. I am abandoning Amp for the meantime, as it was causing issues with the menu button on mobile and I have migrated the site to bigger hardware to handle the additional load.
This is not the final vision for the site, for that I am still working with Limun Web Development to develop a unique look for The Chia Plot, but that will take time as his work is very good. But it does fix a number of the core issues, and I’m hoping the experience on the site is significantly improved while we work out the final look.
Thank you to all my supporters and readers. I never expected to have so many readers so quickly, and your support means the world to me. If there are any suggestions or improvements you can think of for the site, please do not hesitate to reach out or leave a comment. I will seriously consider all good ideas.
Even after a few days I have to say that I’m not a fan. Sorry!
The green bar atop looks way too generic, which undermines the otherwise good content.
The typography on the previous theme was more legible and the stock photo header images are to irrelevant. I know they are necessary to increase the click rate in search results or feed readers, but especially since they are shown despite the large header/hero image the content is pushed below the fold on a regular 13″ notebook’s screen or tablet in landscape mode. Shouldn’t the written content be the frontmost part?
Hey thank you for the feedback, thats super valuable.
I am also a fan of the old look, and I’m working on it on the test server to try and make that theme fit again. Problem was that there were elements that just didnt work, especially on mobile. This is only an intermediate step but I do agree its a lot more generic than I would like.
edit: I am going to take the point about images to heart and get stricter on the sizing of them. They are too big.
