Well. This one feels very sketchy. ChiaRose is another fork of Chia and so far the first one that, even if it works fine, I won’t be installing up to my production farm setup. The level of copying here is egregious. It’s almost like an exercise in forking a project by changing the fewest characters possible. Their coin is XCR instead of XCH. They are calling themselves the Chia RoseChain. I actually like the imagery there, but its a little trademark-infringy, even for me. They use a barely modified logo. They didn’t even change the wallet screen, and still shows it as Chia Wallet. Their website is only delivered over http and not over https, which is just bizarre for a crypto company.

I suspect based on the difficulty and the height that they have a significant prefarm for the developers should the coin ever be worth anything, but I don’t think it will be. I cannot decipher from their translated pages if they have a point, or a differentiator other than as an obvious rip off of Chia. For all their faults, at least ChainGreen and SpareCoin tried to do something different. And Flax seems more like a community project than a developer driven software package. This just felt like malware.
I’m gonna be honest, I don’t really want to draw too much attention to this one. I am not going to spend on a lot of effort on this, either from a farming or a writing perspective. It is clearly a Chinese copycat of Chia, poorly timed with everything going on, so they aren’t worried about the intellectual property aspects of what they are doing. But mostly, I cant imagine this coin will be used for anything legitimate and will only ever be worth anything if someone is using it for dishonest work.
I haven’t really made too many recommendations here, but my recommendation is to stay away from ChiaRose.
I’d like the thank The Poor Investor for putting me on to this coin, check out his video here on it.
