Chia Decentral has risen from the ashes like a phoenix with one hell of a return post. Apparently while their site might have been inactive for a short while they have been far from idle. Releasing today is their massive Chia Farmer survey, and I strongly recommend checking it out.
What we have here is a survey conducted on more than 5000 Chia Farmers asking them some important questions about their thoughts on pools and their experience with cryptocurrency. They go through things like farm size, what farmers care about when it comes to picking a pool, how farmers want to be paid and if they want to join a local Chia community.
I took the survey, and I think I end up being fairly average except for one thing – I don’t really have an interest in local Chia communities. Maybe I’m not creative enough to see the value there, but I hope they become a thing either way. Change my mind!
I urge everyone reading this who hasn’t already taken part to go and fill this out and leave your contact information. The intention here is pretty clear, and that is to create a dataset useable to pool operators and developers in order to target their offerings to both what farmers want most, as well as identify major niches that might be underserved. While it is amazing that the majority of farmers want payouts exclusively in XCH there is still 15% looking for payouts in BTC or ETH like NiceHash does. This is a significant minority and might see better service because of this survey.
Now, its not perfect – I think they could use more questions and while tricky and icky, I bet some demographics would help too. I also think that its likely there is some sample bias here because its self-reported, but we are talking a few percent maybe, almost certainly not conclusion-altering considering their massive sample size.
What an accomplishment, this is by far the best collection of datum on Chia Farmers I have personally seen, and I suspect Chia Network is going to spend some time with this. Hat’s off, Chia Decentral team. Go tell them the same at their discord channel.
