Hot on the heels of Emergent Coin releasing their Nucle Simplified Payment Verification Chia wallet (SPV), Digital Farming Initiative have launched a test version of their new solution called Arbor Wallet, and they have launched it as a discord bot.
I cannot tell you how uncomfortable that makes in the sense of a production wallet. But that’s not how they are planning it, by the looks of things. It looks like they are using the Discord bot to test their new wallet back end and API interface and are actually planning on a web wallet and mobile apps that do the spend bundles on-device and not on their servers.
I took a little bit of time to play around with the Discord bot this morning, it seems pretty neat. You do get 12 words as your seed, presumably it is creating a real wallet and not just signing database entries, but as they get closer to release we will see more code in their github and should be able to tell for sure long before its an issue.

The service itself was quick, although chatting with a discord bot does not really feel like the next epoch of fintech. It was actually pretty neat, and shows how much room for different approaches there is in this space. They are also working on a number of other projects, including an NFT marketplace they are calling Arbor Place. Sounds like a rich person’s retirement home, which might be good marketing here.
You should go check out the video below that has the instructions, and join their discord if you want to test out their wallet. They are sending people a few mojo to test with so there is not risk whatsoever to the tester’s own coin. I used my own 10 mojo to avoid making my first bribe ever the tiniest fraction of a penny, but I do recommend taking advantage of their offer and trying this out at no risk to you. Be careful though, do NOT use this discord bot as a production money management system. Even they will admit its not secure in its current incarnation, but security is coming.
