A few months ago I was right into Chia forks. I wrote about them as they started popping up, I tried them early on. I kickstarted my discord server, which is quite popular, with a Flax / Chaingreen giveaway. Big fan. But when Chia changed the plot format to the NFT plots for the on-chain pooling protocol I started to replot. Like a lot of folks apparently, with SpacePool alone up around 10% of total Chia netspace.
So when this happened, I predicted they needed a solution to the NFT problem, and challenged them to come up with a solution. And they did, 2 of them. Flax built a service to release the 7/8 portion of the reward that farmers weren’t getting with pool plots, and flora built a tool to do the same. Neither option was perfect, with Flax’s option being centralized and Flora’s being tough to implement.
Then along came AllTheBlocks.net, a blockchain explorer that looks at all the Chia forks. Its good enough that Freddie from ChiaExplorer.com told me he was very impressed by them. And that’s before they built their 7/8 NFT Recovery site.

This is the way it should be. Controlled by the user, good user experience, clear about how to use it. I am really a fan of it, and I have been using it regularly. And personally, I have seen a lot more activity among the forks since it has launched. I think the partnership here between Flora and AllTheBlocks really did re-invigorate a dying community who was largely stuck behind the choice of on-chain Chia pools or continuing to farm the forks. Most people chose the former, and now they don’t even have to chose.
I firmly believe that without AllTheBlocks’ recovery tool we would be seeing forks dying out every day right now. I certainly wouldn’t be farming HDDCoin, and I bet a lot of other people would be in the same boat. But instead we have Chia Fork netspaces rising, and other than some silly drama times are pretty good in Fork Land.
If you can afford to, please donate to this service. The busier something like this gets the more expensive it gets and its not like they are taking a transaction fee. This is simply a public good, and it has a cost. And if you are a fork developer and haven’t reached out to thank the Flora team and AllTheBlocks, then you are behind on that one for sure.
