aChia has sadly announced its intentions to shut down their Chia Pool, for the reasons I have been outlining. It is simply not profitable at anywhere near the current price of XCH (about $159 USD at time of writing) to run anything but the biggest pools. However, they are not simply closing shop like some of the others but is going to keep things humming along as long as they can for their farmers.
They were working on a number of things, including the pool and a multi-fork farmer, so that’s a big loss to the community. Check out their announcement below. They do not have a recommendation for a new pool so if you are an aChia farmer looking for a new one you should check out the All About Pools series.
Sounds like they can afford to keep it running?
What does hosting for pools cost aprox?
I compute that at $155/xch and 36eib netspace a pool with 1% fee earns $347/eib. or $0.34/pib per day.
This puts spacepool’s income right around 500k per year. I’d be interested what their hosting expenses are.
