It is a good day for me and those who think like me, with a critical update being released for Chia, Chia Blockchain 1.2.10. This release comes with password protected (encrypted) keys in a keyring.yaml file. This is a fantastic change and I applaud the Chia team for this. This has been one of two main issues with the Chia software for some time, along with the open ports back into a python environment.
Not only have they made a significant improve to the Chia node security posture, but they have fully documented the feature! This is something mentioned explicitly on the AMA and it is good to see it coming true so quickly. I am a huge fan of this feature, even more so with proper documentation.
There are also a number of other changes in this release that would be noteworthy on their own including a change to the database sync settings back to FULL by default as well as some changes that appear to reduce the size of the blockchain. Go download it here right away, check out the changelog and most importantly – password protect your keys!
this version seems to just sit at connecting to wallet for hours on a raspberry pi 4. it asks me to apply the new passphrase feature then that’s pretty much it. spins and spins where i was farming on the previous version. chia is a difficult blockchain to deal with on a pi.
just on a pi? im on a 8150e and i been spinning for longer
