Hidden deep in the COP26 Climate Conference Program Guide, on page 39, there is an entry showing that Chia Network has sponsored the conference, along with electrical utilities, power transmitters, oil companies, consulting companies and governments. This would have gone completely unnoticed had Freddie from ChiaExplorer not (somehow) found it
This truly fits in with both the green marketing theme that has been around since the beginning, as well as the World Bank Climate Warehouse partnership announced yesterday. It really seems like Chia Network is trying to take its product out of the “cryptocurrency space” and into the “green technology space” as the only blockchain competitor there. This is actually a really good idea, and what I hoped they would do when I first started following the company. There is a LOT more money in the green tech world, with real customers looking to have real problems solved today. Being at these major Climate action conferences is going to be the way to get their name out there as a potential technology partner.
I’m not sure why they didn’t announce this, especially considering the timing of their Climate Warehouse project. This kind of news gives people confidence that this is a real company with real long term goals which every cryptocurrency company could use a healthy dose of.
