Chia is the same coin you started farming in the past year. Just an fyi.
Through all the updates and changes; through all the people coming and going. It’s the same coin. Why all the FUD over price? It is so trivial to the overall success of the project in its current state. Chia Network has hit a majority of their targets and goals for the coin, barring a few date push backs that everyone in the technology sphere should be used to by now. They do provide regular updates. They are hiring staff and the project is far from dead. Not to mention they have sprouted an entire ecosystem of other forks and coins ready to jump in if Chia were to really crap the bed. Which is highly doubtful currently.
Why are we letting a few boisterous individuals lead the charge when it comes to determining what is the success of Chia? Why is price so important to these people and not development? A good portion of Chia farmers are probably new to cryptocurrency and you can tell.
It could also easily be argued another portion of these people pushing back, are just other crypto coin maximalists trying to get you off your game. The less united we are as a Chia community, the less likely we are to push the Chia project forward. Does not help when some of the leaders of the project crap all over other larger communities and projects; which brings their people into ours to do the same.
That’s crypto though! It’s the way the crypto community operates. It’s time we as a Chia community started building a callous to this type of daily mumbo jumbo argument that my coin is better than your coin; or your coin sucks just because it’s losing exchange price value.
Yawn… can we make Chia fun yet? Or are we waiting for them to develop that as well?
All of a sudden the price matters so damn much to people…What happened to people caring about utility? When did things change? Chia at a 200$ exchange price needs utility? Chia at 100$ exchange price is a shit coin with no future?
What? What happened in 30 days to change everyone’s minds?
Can we not see how most of these arguments are lame yet? Are you not bored of defending Chia? Or alternatively crapping on it all the while running a 200+tb farm. It is silly for your investment future; and defending Chia constantly is just straight up bad for mental health. I thought people were gonna stick it out for at least a year? Or more? The Chia Reddit has proven that to be a lie; or at least seemingly so.
And this brings me to the Chia reddit issue. The Chia reddit is just a FUD fest; thanks to it being formatted to not allow creatives to be creative. In its current state it’s merely people googling Chia and getting brought into a circulating argument; the exact same one we as a community have been having since chia officially launched. They might as well allow memes and other distracting content in because the current r/chia is garbage.
the Chia reddit is simply full of ranting. This is why I say let the meme/gif floodgates open. Words can be argued. Either for or against. It’s not as easy to argue a meme.. For or against. It’s also not a terrible distraction from all the garbage paragraph rants, crappy polls, and “what’s wrong with my farm” posts.
We should leave the ranting up to The Chia Plot and its columnists, or other media surrounding the project. (editor’s note: I like rants, and if you want to have one published please reach out)
But alas Chia doesn’t want fun on its reddit so it makes sense that the Chia reddit would be a garbage dump of arguments.
Definitely not the community’s fault. It’s Chia’s tight ass view on how they want to portray themselves. Memes on reddit are bad, arguing over everything including gambling being built on the blockchain is good. Yes, it doesn’t make sense to me either.
Not even going to bother going in depth on keybase and its lack of usability. Or the fact chia has social media pages on pretty much all the platforms left being wasted; did we even get 4 posts on Facebook in 7 months? Not worth the word count to argue how dumb it is not using free real estate offered.
But that’s where we as a community need to stop the wishy washy; Chia good one day, Chia bad the next. Watch a few YouTube videos not made by Chia Network to see just how love/hate the Chia content community is (myself included). We need to remember the entire Chia Network staff can screw right off tomorrow and the Chia blockchain itself will go on as if nothing happened. Why are we relying on them to lead the farming community? They themselves spend a ton of time in the chia reddit sounding like a broken record arguing the same point over and over again. That is what they do with their time; rather than posting a quick daily “woohoo were awesome” or “this is what we did today” or “meet this important person” post on socials. Must be a crappy job to be the media person at Chia Network.
Most importantly Chia Network shouldn’t be telling us (the community that supports them) how to enjoy the creation they themselves admit having little control over at this point (beyond owning the 21 million pre-mine). That’s basically what they are doing by controlling what’s being posted on the reddit. Also admittedly they threaten individuals and groups trying to build the community which doesn’t help things. But the truth is without their farming community and the hundreds of thousands of nodes that come with it. They have nothing but a program and promises. We are all on the same ship when it comes to chia; whether that is sinking to the bottom, or off into the sunset is anyone’s guess.
I say if you want people to drop the constant FUD give them a reason to drop the FUD. Memes, gifs, Chia merch, people with sick rigs who know how to use them. These things are hype. Arguing semantics is not.
Try to argue a meme and most meme creators would reply with “pew pew 25x to the moon!”. Type an essay on blockchain; or why Chia is this way or that way, or good or bad and watch the arguments rule.
The community needs positive creativity (media) to rally behind when the development gets slow. Chia has a serious media problem of being a tight ass in all the wrong ways when it comes to how they let others enjoy their project. They need to try some different tactics to change the narrative before its to late. As it stands right now it appears Chia doesn’t care about bringing anyone else into the project. There are NFT projects started last week that have more traction than Chia, let’s be honest with ourselves here.
The Chia media problem is 100% fixable. But Chia Network themselves obviously suck at it. We the Chia community are the word of mouth they are banking on to get the word out. However they are shooting us as a community in the foot. The community can’t be hype about Chia because we have to be like Bram and gene and argue semantics 24/7. Like we are getting paid to do their job for them?
I for one am tired of the FUD. If anyone deserves to rant it’s the voice not often heard: and I feel like I need to become that voice. That voice is saying “I don’t give a crap about poker, or the inner workings of how everything works. I just want to build a sick farming rig; have it work well, and have some fun with other people doing the same. Don’t care what the price is anymore, I personally didn’t invest anything into Chia I wasn’t afraid to lose outright 100%.”
If Chia is not going to be releasing major weekly updates, they need to provide their dedicated community the tools to keep the FUD levels at minimum. Or at least stop being so daft over how a normal social community operates. Let alone a crypto community. Chia could be building the best blockchain to ever exist and it’s never going to gain the traction it deserves with your average crypto user not giving 1 care to anything Chia is preaching. We can all sit here and think we are better than everyone and go the Chia Network way. Or we can start making Chia worth looking into because Chia Network is seemingly not. Propaganda every once and awhile doesn’t hurt the community; I think its time we accepted that. Sometimes people want to join in not because its profitable but because its fun. Chia farming, however, is becoming a chore.
Enough is enough, r/chia needs to change. The chia community needs to step up its game and be the change it wants to see in the project. We need to stop relying on the chia network team to build the chia community. But at the same time Chia Network and the r/chia ownership needs to stop being so tight ass when it comes to poking fun at themselves and the project.
FUD is all this community is being known for; if we have 1 crypto new years resolution. Can it be to change the Chia narrative?
To sum it all up tl;dr
The hype is real. Get on the ship before it launches, or get the hell off and let the rest of us enjoy the ride. if you want nothing but hype. you can follow me on twitter @smertxfo0d; I post a ton of actual fun Chia content there because I’m being the change I want to see.
give me a reason to hold chia. currently i do not have one. that’s why “the price” and people get upset end of story. i have been in it since the testnet before launch and have over 1pb. we mint more and more but we are just adding to the pool of chia and it currently has not demand or “reason” it is just left to traders and thats where the problem is.
LOL, Hilarious
This blog doesn’t let me post memes in response to it, I just wanted to point that out, since its a big concern you have, so, now what?
It’s being investigated
I can’t breathe
The Chia Network SoMe responsible should be either replaced or start doing their job. The interaction with the community is horrible and there are close to no “feel good” stories. I mean, the Marmot Coin would have been a win-win-win to post for some “light fun” and positive press, but they didn’t even bother with that. All the posts are updates and nerdy tech.
Bram Cohen should not be put in the spotlight so much, because, his social skills are lack luster at best. He needs to stick to tech questions and not be allowed to spend time on talking about how he is turning Chia into his personal “poker” platform. I’m sure that’s not what he is doing, but if that’s the only thing he talks about – how are other people to know?!
When I look through the list of “Chia Leadership” for the Chia Network there are a lot of faces I would like to hear more about. Like, what are their functions and what is their contribution to the project (besides a fancy title and a $$ drain that could have been spend on Chia development if you want to take a “dark” view on it)..
Everything on Reddit is a shit show. I said this to you and others back in August and got the defense that somehow r/chia was different. If that’s where you’re basing your community, you’ve already lost.
