Chia Network has announced via Keybase and a blog post that they will be hosting a developer challenge for coding Chialisp with the Clovyr development environment. This is a real contest, with real stakes and will be running over a 24 hour period starting February 3rd at 12:00 PM PST (noon).
Unlike the last hackathon, which was more like a bare bones incubator program than a hackathon, this one will require developers to receive the challenge and complete it in a very short time, showing off their skills at programming – not PowerPoint.
So what is Clovyr? Clovyr is a cloud integrated development environment (IDE) running VSCode and a private development VPS to the programmer for testing. With the Chia integration, Clovyr is bringing a synchronized full node running on Chia testnet10 which will allow prospective Chialisp developers to get right into it without having to deploy any local infrastructure. This kind of IDE is critical for teaching new developers how to code in the new environment, and is a big step forward for Chia.
If you were not interested before, maybe hearing that the prizes for this hackathon are $10 000, $5 000, and $2 500 USD for first, second, and third respectively. I wonder what the super-secret grand prize will be for this one? Check out the blog post here, and register if this interests you. Or if you like money.
